A move-out clean is easiest to plan once belongings and movers are out. Confirm rooms, appliances, cabinets, windows, and any landlord checklist before the visit.
Plan the clean before moving day
A move-out cleaning is easier to do well when the home is empty and the scope is agreed upon before the appointment. Landlords, buyers, and property managers may have different expectations, so share any written checklist you have.
Walk through the whole home
List every room, bathroom, closet, and finished lower level. Note whether the home has a garage, basement, or interior windows that need attention. The team should know which areas are in scope, especially if some rooms are still full of belongings.
Appliances and cabinets need a decision
Inside the oven, refrigerator, and cabinets are not automatically part of every quote. Ask for them explicitly. Empty the refrigerator and cabinets before interior cleaning so the surfaces are accessible and your belongings remain organized.
Plan around the movers
Ideally, cleaning happens after belongings and moving debris are removed, with electricity and water still available. Provide access instructions, parking details, and a contact person if you will not be on site. If movers or contractors will still be working, tell us so we can plan the sequence.
Photograph conditions that need extra work
Adhesive residue, grease, heavy bathroom buildup, and renovation dust can change the time needed. Send photos before the quote rather than waiting for the team to discover them. A clear scope helps you compare services and decide whether move-in and move-out cleaning fits your property.
Use a final walk-through checklist
Before the cleaners leave, verify the agreed rooms, appliance interiors, empty cabinets, closets, and basement areas. Check that the rooms were accessible and that no boxes blocked floors or corners. Take photographs for your own records if a landlord or buyer will inspect the property later.
Things cleaning cannot fix
Scuffed paint, damaged caulk, scratches, broken fixtures, and permanent discoloration may remain after a thorough clean. Separate repair work from cleaning when you plan the move. If there is extensive trash or leftover construction material, arrange removal before the cleaners arrive or ask specifically whether hauling can be quoted.
